Flash Fiction: KTFO (WC79)
Blood covered my face, but the fight only had thirty more seconds. I jabbed left and she dodged right. I jabbed left then followed with a hard right and she blocked. I leaned back and, when she pursued, popped a straight kick, catching her right under the chin. Her head snapped back just like a Pez dispenser, but no candy came out. As she landed flat on her back, I let rip my victory cry, "KNOCKED THE FUCK OUT!" |

This looks like it'd be a great photo prompt for a fantasy...

I especially love the pic of the mushrooms. Def my favorite. I was trying to take a similiar pic the other day in my yard, but I just couldn't get it to come out right.
Beautiful tanka and photo. I think the mushrooms are my favorite, too, although I do like Pete cheering for the Reds. I started taking photos about a year ago to go with some of my poetry. Now, I am taking more photos for their own merit and end up writing poems about some.

I was taking pictures of my roses, and saw that little bunch of mushrooms and thought, "It would look awesome if they were huge, like trees." So I just put my camera on the ground right in front of them and it turned out really cool!
I've just recently become interested in poetry and photography but they have been great inspiration for each other.

Those mushrooms remind me of the faery village in A Ranger's Tale! I can see Mayor Vido flying toward Galadin and Cali, fussing about Galadin's hunting hawk :D
I’d like to help you with the photos. They are a little overexposed; you can judge that by the blue cast. You can fix this by pulling the ISO on the camera down a stop or two or, if you have Photoshop you can multiply the layer, merge and then use basic curves to brighten. The composition of the mushroom photo is fantastic and you must be really proud of that. You might set up the rose photos better by not photographing from above, maybe position the camera with the direct light behind the subject and try to pick compositions of uneven numbered groups, like 3, 5 7 etc. Please feel free to ask me anything I’m very, very happy to help. PS. You little girl has the most fantastically beautiful hair.

Hey, Becca. What kind of camera do you have? I use a Nikon SLR at the moment, but I really miss my old Minolta point and shoot sometimes. I haven't found the time to do all the fancy f-stop and ISO adjustments without pulling out the instruction manual.
Here's a great website for instructions. Flowers and landscapes are my favorite subjects. The mushrooms are great. I agree they'd make a great fantasy story prompt.
